What our emotions teach us...

Our emotions can become our best friend if we take the time to understand them.
Negative emotions can be tough to navigate through, especially when they are clouded with external factors. So how can you work through them without being brought down? You can better understand and work through them in just a few steps.
Let me explain through a real-life example.
Recently, kids came home sharing how they met their stepmom and appreciated her kindness. Nothing was alarming in that situation, but I felt my anger boil up. Right then and there, I looked for my phone to message their dad; ‘Why didn’t you tell me that they were going to meet her?’. Just before I was going to text, I sat down and assessed my feelings. I put down my phone and stepped into my emotions. I asked myself questions like:
- How are my kids under this new circumstance?
They were good with this. - What do I feel about this?
I am happy that his life is moving to the next chapter. - Where is my anger coming from?
It had to do with my EGO! A part of me wanted to be in control of the situation and felt that I needed this information before it happened. Now that I knew it was my ego, it didn’t serve me or anyone. I chose NOT to message him.
Asking quality questions can help us gain clarity about our own emotions and actions. Because I assessed my anger, I learned that my ego drove that feeling. Something that I have complete control over.
This is just one way of working through your emotions. Another way is to add some humor to it. Next time you feel a negative emotion arise, try these steps:
- Write down ‘why’ you are feeling what you are feeling. Write about the emotion as if it isn’t you but something you are experiencing externally.
- Give yourself a timeline with the emotion. For example, I allow my sad feelings for the next 1 hour, and then I CHOOSE to release this emotion from my body/mind.
- Burn or rip the written page about this emotion as a form of release.
This dance with our own emotions gives us new insights and allows them to continue to flow instead of getting stuck in us. Next time you go through your negative emotions, try one of these two methods to work through them.
Through my work as an Emotion Code practitioner, I have learned that we ALL have negative trapped emotions in our bodies. This happens because we don’t take the time to understand them, work with them and then make decisions that will actually serve us.
I recognize the feeling of being stuck in frustration, anger, and/or sadness. I also know now that these emotions are helping me define what I hide within – what we all hide within us. By sharing these two methods, I hope you will find a way to release them too.
Keep mastering your self-image so that your unique light can outshine the world!
With love and gratitude!
