Crying is a natural body response, then why do we feel embarrassed by it?

Personal development is something that will always continue, no matter how much you have grown already. Right now, I am sitting with various parts of my younger self, letting her know I am here for her. It certainly isn’t easy, but it is time that I started healing parts that I hadn’t yet.
As I am letting go of parts of myself that don’t serve me anymore, I also am facing thought patterns that I was unaware of. This past week has been challenging as I was releasing my limiting belief that ‘Motherhood is difficult.’ This belief I had taken on because, generally speaking, that is what society says—that and the handful of times that I felt alone and when I was struggling. Can you relate?
Gosh, I have cried so much this week! And each time I allowed it, it released something within me that was taking up space in my body. I could feel the release! As I write this blog, I feel exhausted but also have this renewed energy that I can’t explain.
Carl Sandburg said, “Life is like an onion; you peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.”
This is precisely how I feel! I am uncovering parts of myself, facing my limitations, and releasing them from my body, mind, and soul. The best way to keep growing!
As I went through it, I felt embarrassed about wanting to cry or hold it in so my friend on the phone wouldn’t notice. Why do we do that?
Why do we believe that crying is a weakness? Crying is nothing more than a body's response to different emotions. We even start our life journey with a cry! Remember that a baby crying is a GOOD sign after birth.
Crying has many benefits! It detoxifies the body, releases stress, improves your mood, restores emotional balance, and more.
I was reminded to share my struggles and cry! It only makes me human! Yet, why do we feel this burden always to be strong? Being strong doesn’t mean that we have to keep it in or that we can’t rely on our family/friends to support us. Find the support you need to move forward.
As a coach, I must keep evolving to authentically share my learnings and bring new insights to my clients. This, however, doesn’t mean that you ALWAYS need to work on yourself. Sometimes it is essential to stop and celebrate how far you have come! Balance is always essential!
Keep mastering your self-image so that your unique light can outshine the world!
With love and gratitude!
